When electricity came to the Calabrian mountains, one of the most popular items immediately added to the domestic scene was an electric iron. Ironing is a special skill valued even today by many Calabrian families, especially since every sheet, pillowcase, tablecloth and doily are regularly and lovingly pressed, wrinkle-free.
