Antique spread for double bed, 1950's

“The matrimonale,” the new double bed presented to Calabrian newlyweds often was accompanied by a beautiful double bed covering . Hand made by “nonne” and “zie” (grandmothers and aunties), the bedspread often required a year to create. This handsome piece was made by hand in the 1950’s and likely presented to a couple on their wedding day.
